Weekly Bad Headlines... mostly thanks to the Huff.
I used a cam girl reference in an image from last year. But I had a great time strolling through adult webcam pages and shooting the models. You can scroll through all the models that are 'live now' for free. Its gonna cost you money to interact with the model. So no, I didn't pay these 'models' any money.
I am a fan of the girls from Eastern Europe because their furniture and decor is often very weird and colorful. Some of the girls clearly work out of cubicles in a larger studio space because the space is very impersonal. Some of them are just weird...or mildly disturbing.
Over the last decade, this guy, who goes by nerdboy on Flickr, visited various adult conventions and got his picture taken with pornstars. There is nothing profound here, nor do I care to make fun of him. I just like archetyping things. He's an avid amateur photographer as well.
nerdboy(I was glad to be able to identify only a few of these ladies by name....)
There are millions of gifs online. If you don't know what gifs are... then, welcome to the internet! The best gifs aren't just viral video clips turned into gifs. The best gifs are the ones that are manipulated and utilize the repetitive nature of the gif resulting in these absurd, endless, mesmerizing and intriguing bits. But of course I put in some 'sexy' gifs cause.... well just cause.
During the week I collect images from the web that I like for whatever reason. Never ask why.
Hopefully this will be the only post I make about Hitler. But I found these drawings that the US Office of Strategic Services circulated during WWII of various disguises, or looks, Hitler might assume to flee his crumbling empire. Conspiracy theorists believe he actually escaped to Argentina since his body was burned by the Nazis before the Allies could get a hold of it. Soviet archives show that the remains and ashes of Hitler, family, General Krebs and pets were collected and kept in five wooden boxes... And apparently a KGB team on April 4th, 1970 exhumed these hidden boxes, burned them, crushed them and tossed them into a river.
Awesome.
I really dislike the Huffington Post. Its just crappy. (Not that MailOnline is any better...) But the Huff often has some spectacularly bad headlines. Anyway, these are just some headlines from the last few months I've found from various news sites. Some of them are stupid, some are outrageously hyperbolic, some are quasi-rhetorical questions...
I have a lot of things, ideas and articles backed up in my 'database' that I am finally trying to just dump on this blog. Its not that the posts are unworthy, just some are a little old to me. However, this is a great venue for me to reconnect with things/ideas (I don't know what else to call them) that peeked my interest or irony.
And at the end of the day, this blog-thing is just a place for me to showcase these 'idings' or 'itheas' or 'thing-deas'.
I don't have a lot to say. But there are some comments I'd like to make about some of the coins:
1) Connecticut - The Charter Oak - The Charter Oak was a large White Oak tree about 400 or 500 years old (until 1856) located on Wyllys Hyll (an abuse of the letter 'y') near Hartford, CT. And apparently some people hid the Connecticut's Royal Charter of 1662 in there. Possibly apocryphal. But today I don't care that much about the specifics of CT's history.
2) Delaware - Caesar Rodney was a signer of the declaration. He's more of a Delaware-centric figure than a national historic figure... but good for him.3) New Jersey - Really NJ? You had to take Washington Crossing the Delaware? It just seems like something people don't think about when thinking about NJ. I had to look this up, so its mildly interesting to me, but yes Washington crossed the Delaware River, but he was heading from Pennsylvania
to NJ to surprise the Brits in Trenton. Still seems odd to me.
4)New Hampshire - Old Man of the Mountain. Just a stupid rock cliff that looked like a man... in the mountain. Anyway. Coin was minted in 2000. The rock-face cliff collapsed in 2003....
5) Mississippi - I think this is a pretty design. No collaging. Its just magnolia flowers. Its nice. 6) Arkansas - The Diamond State? Really? Who knew? Apparently, AR is the only state mined for diamonds, but not really... It sounds more like a hobby for some people since its not a commercial enterprise.
7) Illinois - '21st State Century'? Terrible pun. Its not even a pun. Yeah, you were the 21st state.... and its the 21st Century. Kinda lame. Plus Lincoln looks bow-legged as he struts out of the state outline.
8) West Virginia - I am hesitant to make fun of WV because I think its full of hard working, hard-on-luck, good Americans. (I know, I am stereotyping, but its in a nice way.) It just seems somewhat appropriate to put a man-made feat of engineering for this state. The New River Gorge was the longest steel single-span arch bridge. Now its third.
Check it out, its actually pretty cool.
9) Wyoming - The Equality State? hm....10) District of Columbia - Duke Ellington...? Of all the great people that should/could be associated with our/my nation's capital... Duke Ellington? I understand the importance and significance of the African, African-American, and black communities in the current and historical capital. (Not to mention the nation, since he's the only black American represented alone on a coin.) Oh. Just researched it a little more. The district wanted "Taxation without Representation" minted on the coin. But the US Mint rejected it because it was too controversial. Then they wanted Frederick Douglass. And some how ended up with Duke. Plus, DC's motto "Justice for All" is placed as if its an Ellington lyric or quote. No offense to Duke, but I am not a fan of this coin.
11) North Carolina vs. Ohio - These states have a weird, uber-passive argument over historical aviation claims. (As can be seen on their respective license plates.) NC has the Wright brothers making the first flight. But! Ohio, not only has the Wright plane but also an astronaut (Neil Armstrong) claiming to be the "Birthplace of Aviation Pioneers". BUT! Then Florida trumps everyone with both an old Spanish galleon and the Space Shuttle claiming to be the "Gateway to Discovery"... Just observations....
That's all I am gonna say. Check out the wiki page. OH. One more thing: Check out Canada's new glow-in-the-dark dinosaur quarter. yes... i said both glow-in-the-dark and
DINOSAUR. Plus, Canada is getting rid of their penny. (and Sweden is seriously considering to get rid of their cash money).
